Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 15, 2026Last updated: October 15, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information Backed (“Backed”, “we”, “us”) collects when you use the Backed website and app (the “Service”), why we use it, who can see it, and the choices you have.
Backed is a sports-betting social and tracking platform: members post and track their own plays and follow others. Backed does not accept or hold members’ wagers, does not hold members’ funds, and does not connect to sportsbook accounts.
Summary
- We collect what you give us, such as your email address, username, profile, plays, screenshots, comments, reactions and follows, plus the technical information needed to run and secure the Service.
- When you upload a slip screenshot, we send the image to our AI service provider, Anthropic, to read the details of your play and to find any clear player photos printed on it. You check the details, and can correct them, before you post.
- Your profile is public, and plays you share with Everyone are public, including to people who are not signed in.
- Plays are self-reported by members. Backed grades posted NFL picks automatically from sports data, and may grade Polymarket positions from Polymarket’s public market data, but it does not verify that a play was placed, or its stake or payout. Picks in other sports are shown but not tracked automatically.
- Linking a Solana wallet in Backed Club is optional. If you link one, we keep its public address and the message you signed; we never ask for your seed phrase or private key. Each time Backed opens voting on Community Picks, it records every linked wallet’s BACKED balance and the Back Power it gives for that round, whether or not its member takes part; the balance isn’t shown in Backed Club, and your Back Power is shown only to you.
- Where Backed offers it, you can also sign in with a Solana wallet instead of an email address and password. Our authentication provider, Supabase, checks the message your wallet signs and gives us the wallet’s public address, which identifies your account and, unless you have already linked another wallet, becomes its linked wallet. If you linked the wallet to an account you made with an email address, Backed itself checks the message your wallet signs and signs you in to that account. No email address is needed and nothing is sent on the blockchain.
- We do not use advertising or analytics trackers, and we do not sell your personal information.
- For privacy requests, email privacy@usebackedbets.com. There is no self-service delete-account button yet; to delete your account, email privacy@usebackedbets.com or support@usebackedbets.com.
Information we collect, why, and who can see it
Account information
- What
- Your email address, password and username, provided when you sign up. Your display name starts as your username. If you sign up with a Solana wallet instead, there is no email address or password: your account is identified by the wallet’s public address (see “Solana wallet” below), and you choose your username straight after signing in.
- Why we use it
- To create your account, sign you in, keep your account secure, respond to requests about it and send you a password-reset link when you ask for one.
- Who can see it
- Your email address is not shown on your profile or to other members. Your password goes directly from your browser to our authentication provider, which stores it only in hashed (scrambled) form; Backed’s servers never receive it, except a new password you set from a reset link, which they pass straight to our authentication provider. Your username is public.
Profile information and picture
- What
- Your display name, username, bio and profile picture, if you add them. You can change these in Edit profile (on your profile). Backed may also mark an account “Verified by Backed”; only Backed can add or remove it.
- Why we use it
- To show who you are on your profile, plays and comments.
- Who can see it
- Public: anyone, including people who are not signed in, can see them, and your profile can be found through search on Backed and through search engines. The date you joined can also be seen through the public data interface the Backed app uses. Before upload, the Backed app crops, resizes and re-encodes your picture in your browser, which normally removes embedded metadata such as location (GPS) data.
Plays and posts
- What
- What you enter or confirm when you add a play: where you say you made it (for example, a sportsbook, fantasy app or prediction market), the sport, your picks (including the real players, teams, games or markets Backed matches them to) and, if you choose to add them, the odds or price, your stake, the potential payout and a caption, plus the audience you choose.
- Why we use it
- To show your plays to the audience you choose, to grade them automatically, and to calculate your record, profit and loss and group standings.
- Who can see it
- The audience you choose (Everyone, Followers, Group or, where offered, Only me; see Public and private information). Any stake, payout and odds you add are shown with the play. Plays are self-reported: Backed grades the picks it tracks automatically, but it does not verify that a play was placed, or its stake or payout.
Screenshots of plays
- What
- Images of bet slips or positions you upload (PNG, JPEG or WebP). A screenshot is uploaded and sent to be read as soon as you choose it, before you decide whether to post it.
- Why we use it
- To check that the image is safe to show, to read the details of your play from the screenshot (see the next item), and to keep the original with your play.
- Who can see it
- The same audience as the play, who can open the original screenshot from the play (“View original slip”). Screenshots are kept in private storage, and Backed checks that the viewer is allowed to see the play each time one is requested; there are no public links to screenshot files. When you upload a screenshot, our servers also send the image to our AI service provider to be read (see Service providers). The Backed app re-encodes the image in your browser before upload, which normally removes embedded metadata, but everything visible in the image is kept and is sent to be read, so crop out account numbers, balances or other personal details first.
Details read from screenshots
- What
- The details our AI service provider reads from a slip screenshot you upload: the provider, the type of entry, each leg (players, teams, games, markets, lines and sides, or a prediction market’s question, outcome, market code, price and number of contracts), the odds or multiplier, the stake, the payout and when the entry was placed, if shown, plus notes about anything it could not read clearly, and where any clear player photo printed beside a pick is. We also keep a private record of each reading: when it was requested, the result, and which AI model was used. When you post, we keep a small copy of each such photo, cut from your screenshot, with your play.
- Why we use it
- To fill in your play for you to check, to match the names on its NFL picks to real players, teams and games, and its Polymarket positions to real markets, so they may be graded, to check the odds it shows (see Results and records), and to show Backed’s own version of your slip, with the player photos from your screenshot where it has clear ones. The private record is used to check reading quality and to limit how many screenshots each member can have read in a given period.
- Who can see it
- Before you post, only you see the details, and you can correct them. Once you post, the details you confirmed are shown with your play, on Backed’s own slip, to the play’s audience. The private record of readings is not shown to other members.
Results and records
- What
- The result Backed records for each pick and play (pending, live, won, lost, push, void or needs review), the statistic or market result used to grade it, which data source graded it and when, and, where a pick needs review, the reason. If Backed staff correct a wrong grade or settle a pick that needs review, we also keep an internal record of the correction: the old and new result, the reason, when it was made and which staff member made it.
- Why we use it
- To show how your plays turned out and to calculate your record (wins, losses, pushes, pending plays and win rate), reported profit and loss and group standings. Whether a play counts is decided once, when it is posted. Each of these plays is shown, and graded where Backed tracks it, but does not count toward your record, win rate, profit and loss or standings: a play posted more than 5 minutes after one of its games started (labelled “Posted after start”); a play with a pick Backed doesn’t track automatically, such as a pick in another sport (for now Backed tracks only NFL picks), a Kalshi position or an NFL pick on a market Backed can’t grade (labelled “Not auto-tracked yet”); a flex entry; a play with a pick whose line is outside the usual range for its market; a play with a moneyline at odds of −300 or shorter or a prediction-market position bought at 75¢ or more (labelled “Very heavy favorite”), or with a moneyline or position whose odds Backed couldn’t confirm from the uploaded slip (labelled “Odds not confirmed”); a play whose game start couldn’t be confirmed when it was posted; and plays posted before automatic grading began. For a play with more than one pick, the overall odds read from the slip decide when the slip shows them. Odds, stake or payout you enter can only keep a play out of the record, never make it count.
- Who can see it
- The same audience as the play. Results are set by Backed, not by members: by its automatic grading or by Backed staff, who may correct a wrong grade or settle a pick that needs review. A pick Backed tracks but can’t grade reliably shows “Needs review” instead of a guessed result. You cannot mark a play won or lost or change a result. The internal record of corrections is not shown to other members. Profit and loss is calculated from the stake and payout you report and is shown as reported; you can’t change them after posting.
Comments
- What
- Comments you write on plays, including replies to other comments, and the comments you like.
- Why we use it
- To show the conversation on a play and notify the play’s author and, for a reply or an @mention, the member you reply to or mention.
- Who can see it
- Anyone who can see the play, together with your display name, username and profile picture. Comments show how many likes they have, not who liked them, but which members liked a comment, and when, can also be seen by anyone who can see the comment through the public data interface the Backed app uses.
Reactions (Back, Fade and Ride)
- What
- Your reactions to plays.
- Why we use it
- To show reaction counts and surface popular plays.
- Who can see it
- The play’s author is notified in the app with your name and which reaction you chose. Plays show counts, not names, but which members reacted, how and when can also be seen by anyone who can see the play, including people who are not signed in, through the public data interface the Backed app uses.
Follows
- What
- The members you follow and who follow you, and when.
- Why we use it
- To build your Following feed, decide who sees Followers plays and show follower counts.
- Who can see it
- Public. The member you follow is notified in the app with your name. Profiles show who each member follows and who follows them, and who follows whom, and when, can also be seen by anyone through the public data interface.
Blocks
- What
- The members you block, and when. We also keep an internal record of each block and unblock: who made it, which member it was about, and when.
- Why we use it
- To stop you and a member you blocked from following each other or interacting with each other’s plays and comments (such as Back, Fade, comments and replies), and to hide your plays and comments from each other while you are signed in. The internal record keeps blocking auditable.
- Who can see it
- Only you can see who you have blocked, in Settings. The member you block is not notified, but they can tell: your profile shows them that it isn’t available to them. The internal record is not shown to members.
Remixes
- What
- When you remix a play, your new play records which play it came from.
- Why we use it
- To let members build on each other’s plays.
- Who can see it
- The audience of your new play. A remix copies the original play’s picks, odds and source; it never copies the screenshot, stake, payout or caption.
Groups
- What
- Your membership of any group and the plays you share with it. Groups are set up by Backed for now; you cannot create, join or leave a group in the app.
- Why we use it
- To share plays with a group and show group standings.
- Who can see it
- Plays shared with a group are visible to its current members, including people added later. Who belongs to a public group, and when they joined, can be seen by anyone, and a public group’s page shows its members’ public plays and standings. A private group’s members and plays are visible only to its members.
Notifications
- What
- Records of follows, reactions and comments on your plays, replies to your comments and comments that @mention you, including a short excerpt of each comment, and whether you have read them.
- Why we use it
- To tell you about activity in the app. Backed does not send activity notifications by email or push.
- Who can see it
- Only you. Removing a reaction or unfollowing someone does not remove a notification the other member has already received.
Solana wallet (optional: Backed Club, or signing in)
- What
- If you choose to link a Solana wallet where Backed Club offers it: the wallet’s public address, when you linked it (or last confirmed it again), and the message your wallet signed to link it. That message names Backed’s site, the address and your username, with a one-time code and the time it was issued and expires (10 minutes later). Your wallet’s signature is checked when you link it and is not kept. If you sign in with a Solana wallet instead: your wallet signs a sign-in message naming Backed’s site, the address and the time, which your browser sends to our authentication provider, Supabase. Supabase checks the signature and keeps the address as your way of signing in, and Backed reads the address from your Supabase sign-in record; Backed’s servers never receive that signature. That address becomes your account’s linked wallet unless you have already linked another one, and Backed keeps a short record that it was linked when you signed in, in place of a signed message. If you sign in with a wallet you linked to an account you made with an email address, your wallet instead signs Backed’s own sign-in message, naming Backed’s site and the address, with a one-time code and the time it was issued and expires (10 minutes later); Backed’s servers check that signature, which is not kept, and sign you in to that account, only while the wallet stays linked to it (unlinking it in Backed Club stops this). Backed keeps only the one-time code and when it expires and was used, so it can’t be used twice; that record names no address or account, and it is deleted at a later wallet sign-in once it is more than a day past its expiry. Either way, signing sends no transaction. Backed never asks for or stores your seed phrase, private key or wallet password.
- Why we use it
- To sign you in if you use a wallet to do so, to link the wallet to your account (signing proves you control the wallet; it does not identify you), to make sure a wallet is linked to only one account (in Backed’s sign-in, a wallet that’s already linked to an account signs in only to that account), to show you the wallet’s public BACKED token balance and, once Backed has set up the BACKED token, to weight your votes on community cards in Backed Club by it (see “Community-card votes”). If you take part in a Community Play, your linked wallet’s BACKED balance when the play locks is also used to calculate your reward, and its address is recorded as where any reward will be paid (see “Backed Club Community Plays”). If you have a linked wallet when Backed opens voting on Community Picks, its BACKED balance then also sets your Back Power (see “Community Picks and Back Power”).
- Who can see it
- Not shown to other members. Where Backed offers wallet sign-in, it checks a wallet before the wallet signs, so anyone can learn whether a given wallet address is linked to a Backed account, but never which account. Backed reads the balance on its servers from the Solana network through its Solana RPC provider, Helius (see Service providers), which receives the wallet’s public address with each request. Wallet addresses and token balances on the Solana network are public to anyone who knows the address.
Community-card votes (optional: Backed Club)
- What
- If you vote on a community card in Backed Club: your choice on each leg, your linked wallet’s address (and that of any wallet you voted with before on the same leg), the BACKED balance and the token’s total supply as Backed last read them from the Solana network when you voted (the balance at most a minute before, the supply at most 10 minutes before), and the vote weight and holder tier they gave, with when you voted or last changed your vote.
- Why we use it
- To count your vote with the weight your holding gives it, and to make sure each wallet votes only once on each leg of a card, even if it is moved to another account.
- Who can see it
- Not shown to other members: they see only each option’s number of votes and total weight, never who voted.
Backed Club Community Plays (optional)
- What
- If you vote on a Community Play’s card or suggest a pick for it in Backed Club: the picks you suggest for it, with the wallet address you suggested them with, and whether each was accepted, rejected or selected. When the play locks, Backed keeps a record for everyone who voted on its card or suggested a pick, including members who didn’t take part: whether you voted on every leg, your valid suggested picks, whether one of your picks was selected, your participation score, your linked wallet’s address, its BACKED balance and the token’s total supply read from the Solana network at lock, your share of supply, whether you were eligible (and if not, why), and your reward weight. After the play is settled: your reward amount and, once Backed prepares its payout, the payout record (the payout batch, the address it is paid to, the payout asset, the amount, the Solana transaction signature, whether the transfer has been confirmed on the Solana network, and when), with the play’s stake, return and Community Fund accounting, and any correction (the previous and new values, which staff member made it, why and when).
- Why we use it
- To work out each participant’s participation, reward weight and reward as the Terms describe, to pay rewards, to show you your part in the play, and to keep an auditable record of every play, reward and payment.
- Who can see it
- Your own participation, snapshot, reward weight and reward are shown to you, not to other members. A suggested pick that Backed accepts is added to the card as an option that other members can vote on. A reward is paid by a transfer on the Solana network, which may also carry other participants’ rewards: its transaction signature, the Backed treasury address it was sent from, the address paid to, the asset and the amount are public on the Solana blockchain.
Community Picks and Back Power (optional: Backed Club)
- What
- If you submit a community pick in Backed Club: your pick (the sport, the player or team, the type of pick, such as over, under, moneyline or spread, the stat and line where it needs them and, if you add them, the matchup, the provider you name and a short reason), when you submitted it, and whether Backed shortlisted, selected or removed it, with the reason for any removal. When Backed opens voting on Community Picks, it records a Back Power snapshot for every member with a linked wallet, whether or not they submit or back a pick: the wallet’s address, its BACKED balance and the token’s total supply read from the Solana network through Helius, our Solana RPC provider, when they were read, and the Back Power they give. If you back picks: how much of your Back Power you put on each pick, and when you last changed it.
- Why we use it
- To show the community picks and the support each has, to let you back picks within your Back Power, to let Backed shortlist, select or remove picks, and to show the picks Backed selects as the community bet.
- Who can see it
- Your pick is public in Backed Club: it is shown with your username, display name and profile picture, its number of backers and its total Back Power, and, if Backed selects it, under Community Bets. A pick Backed removes is no longer shown to members. Your Back Power and the Back Power you put on each pick are shown only to you, and your snapshot itself is not shown in Backed Club. Other members see only each pick’s number of backers and total Back Power, never your balance or which picks you backed.
Sign-in and session information
- What
- The sign-in cookies that keep you signed in, and the session records our authentication provider keeps, which include the IP address and browser details used with your sessions.
- Why we use it
- To keep you signed in, refresh your session and protect your account.
- Who can see it
- Not shown to other members.
Technical and server information
- What
- Standard request information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request, received by our hosting and storage providers, and error logs that can include your account ID and the content involved when something fails. Search text is part of the page address and of requests to our database provider.
- Why we use it
- To operate the Service, keep it secure, prevent abuse and fix problems.
- Who can see it
- Not shown to other members. Backed does not store your IP address or browser details in its own tables, and does not save your searches to your account.
Messages to us
- What
- Anything you send to our support, privacy or legal addresses.
- Why we use it
- To respond to you and keep a record of requests.
- Who can see it
- Not shown to other members.
Backed does not ask for your date of birth, phone number, home address, government ID, payment card details, or login details for any sportsbook or other betting service, and it never asks for or stores a crypto wallet’s seed phrase, private key or password. Linking a Solana wallet in Backed Club, or signing in with one, is optional (see “Solana wallet” above).
Public and private information
When you add a play, you choose its audience:
- Everyone: anyone, including people who are not signed in. Public plays, and the comments on them, can also be found by search engines.
- Followers: people who follow you at the time they view the play. Any member can follow you without your approval. You cannot currently remove a follower, but you can block a member: blocking removes any follow between you, both ways, and neither of you can follow the other while the block lasts, so treat Followers as an audience any member you have not blocked can join. While signed in, you and a member you blocked also cannot see each other’s plays or comments, but blocking does not hide your public plays from people who are not signed in.
- Group: the current members of the group you pick.
- Only me: only you. This option is offered in some cases, such as remixing a play that was not public.
Records, profit and loss, and group standings are calculated from the plays each viewer is allowed to see. In the Backed app, a remix of a play that was not shared with Everyone can only be shared with the same group or kept to the member who remixed it. Anyone who can see a play can see its screenshot and comments, and could copy or share what they see. Backed staff may view any play, including its screenshot, when needed to review content or enforce the Terms.
At the moment, plays, captions and comments cannot be edited or deleted in the app after you post them, and a play’s audience cannot be changed. A play’s result, and the records calculated from it, update automatically as Backed grades the play. You can remove your reactions, unfollow people and edit your profile at any time. When you change your username, your profile link changes and your old username may become available to someone else, so existing links to your old profile address could later lead to their profile; the username you chose at sign-up is also kept in your sign-in record until your account is deleted. To ask us to remove content, email support@usebackedbets.com.
How we use information
We use information only to:
- create and run your account and sign you in;
- read the details of slip screenshots you upload, with our AI service provider, so you can check them and post them as a play;
- show your profile, plays, screenshots, comments and reactions to the audiences you choose;
- track and grade posted NFL picks automatically (Polymarket positions may also be graded), correct wrong grades, and calculate records, profit and loss and standings;
- link a Solana wallet you choose to link, show you its public BACKED balance, and weight your community-card votes by it;
- if you vote on a Community Play’s card or suggest a pick for it, record your participation and your wallet’s BACKED holding when the play locks, and calculate, record and show your reward, pay it to the wallet recorded when the play locked, and record and show whether it has been paid;
- run Community Picks: show the picks members submit, record each linked wallet’s Back Power when Backed opens voting, record the Back Power members put on picks, show each pick’s total support, and show the picks Backed selects;
- show you in-app notifications about follows, reactions and comments;
- keep the Service secure, prevent abuse and enforce our Terms of Service;
- respond to your messages and requests;
- find and fix errors and keep the Service working; and
- comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information and we do not use it for targeted advertising. Backed does not currently send marketing emails.
Service providers
We use service providers and data sources to run Backed. Service providers (Supabase, Vercel and Anthropic) process information on our behalf to provide their services to us. Our data sources (BALLDONTLIE, Polymarket’s public market data, and Wikimedia Commons and Wikidata) only provide data to us and receive no information about you. Our Solana RPC provider, Helius, used only if you link a Solana wallet, receives that wallet’s public address (and, to pay a Community Play reward, the payment transaction):
- Supabase (authentication, database and file storage) stores your account, profile, plays, screenshots, the details read from them, results, comments, reactions, follows and notifications, and handles sign-in, including, where Backed offers it, signing in with a Solana wallet: it checks the message your wallet signs and keeps the wallet’s public address as your way of signing in (for a wallet you linked to an account you made with an email address, Backed’s servers check the signature instead). Your browser connects to Supabase directly when you sign in or sign up, upload a screenshot or profile picture, view profile pictures or player photos and stay signed in, so it receives your IP address and browser information when you do. Access to stored information is controlled by rules that enforce the audiences described in this policy. Supabase also runs the schedule that starts automatic grading; that request carries no information about you.
- Vercel (website hosting) runs the Backed website and app, processes the requests you make (including content you submit), and keeps standard request and error logs, including IP addresses.
- Anthropic (AI screenshot reading). When you upload a slip screenshot, our servers send the image, with Backed’s standard reading instructions and today’s date, to Anthropic’s Claude API, which reads it and returns the details of the slip. We do not send your name, email address, username or other account details, but everything visible in the image is included. Anthropic processes the image on our behalf to provide this service. Under its commercial terms and published data practices, Anthropic does not use the images or results to train its models, and it deletes them within 30 days, unless it needs to keep them longer, for example if they are flagged for review under its usage policy, or to comply with the law.
- BALLDONTLIE provides sports schedules, scores and player and team statistics, which Backed uses to show games, to match the names on NFL picks to real players, teams and games, and to grade NFL picks. Our servers request this data using only sports details, such as dates, seasons, game, team and player identifiers, and player or team names as shown on a slip; we do not send it any information about you or your account, or your searches. Sports data may be delayed, unavailable or inaccurate, and it is not official league data.
- Polymarket public market data is used to match Polymarket positions to real markets and, once a market has resolved, may be used to grade them. Our servers request this public data using only market details, such as a market’s identifier or its title as shown on a slip; we do not send any information about you or your account.
- Wikimedia Commons and Wikidata are where Backed finds freely licensed player photos and the details used to match a photo to a player. These lookups use only player and team details, never information about you. Backed copies the photos it uses to its own storage and credits each one on our Image Credits page.
- Helius (Solana RPC provider; only if you link a Solana wallet). To show your linked wallet’s BACKED balance, weight your community-card votes, check your holding when you suggest a pick for a Community Play or the play locks, and work out your Back Power when Backed opens voting on Community Picks, our servers ask Helius, which provides access to the Solana network, for that wallet’s token accounts. Helius receives these requests from Backed’s servers, not from your browser. To pay a Community Play reward, our servers also send the payment transaction through it and check with it that the transfer is confirmed. The requests carry only public wallet and token addresses and, for a reward payment, the transaction, never your name, email address, username or other account details.
Backed does not currently request any data from Kalshi. Kalshi positions are read from your screenshot like any other slip, but they are not tracked automatically and show “Not auto-tracked yet”.
How long we keep information
- We keep your account, profile and the content you post for as long as your account exists, unless you ask us to remove something sooner.
- When you replace or remove your profile picture, we delete the previous image from our storage. Because profile pictures are public, cached copies may remain for a short time; if an old picture is still available, email support@usebackedbets.com and we will remove it.
- Screenshots that were uploaded but never posted may be removed from time to time.
- The details read from a screenshot are kept with your play once you post it. Our private record of screenshot readings is deleted when your account is deleted, and may be removed sooner.
- Our internal record of grade corrections, which identifies the play and the account it belonged to, is kept even after the play or your account is deleted, so that every correction stays auditable.
- Our internal record of each time Backed staff remove or restore a play (which play, which staff member, an optional reason, and when) is kept even after the play or your account is deleted, so that every removal stays auditable.
- Our internal record of each time Backed adds or removes the “Verified by Backed” mark (which account, which staff member, an optional reason, and when) is kept even after the account is deleted, so that the mark stays auditable.
- Who you have blocked is kept until you unblock them or either account is deleted. Our internal record of blocks and unblocks (who made each one, which member it was about, and when) is kept even after either account is deleted, so that blocking stays auditable.
- If you link a Solana wallet, we keep its address, and the messages you signed to link it (including for a wallet you later replaced), until you unlink it or your account is deleted; unlinking deletes them all. Messages you were asked to sign but didn’t are deleted then too, or earlier: each time you start linking a wallet, those more than a day past their expiry are removed. A wallet linked when you signed in with it is kept the same way, with our record of that link in place of a signed message. A community-card vote, and a Community Play’s records, keep the wallet address they were made with (see the next items). A Back Power snapshot also keeps the wallet address it was read from (see below).
- If you vote on a community card, we keep your vote and what was recorded with it (the wallet address, and that of any wallet you voted with before on the same leg, the balance and supply read at the time, the tier and the weight) with the card’s results, also after you unlink the wallet, so that the wallet can’t vote again on the same leg of the card from another account. They are deleted when your account or the card is deleted.
- If you vote on a Community Play’s card or suggest a pick for it, its records about you (your participation, the lock-time snapshot with your wallet address, balance and share of supply, your reward weight, your reward and its payout record, and any correction), which identify your account, are kept whether or not you took part: they are never edited and are kept even after you unlink the wallet or your account is deleted, so that every play and reward stays auditable. The exception is a payout record before it is paid: its status is updated as the payment proceeds, and the address it will be paid to changes only by a recorded correction; a confirmed payment is never edited or reversed automatically, and any correction to it is recorded. A reward payment’s transaction, including its signature, the Backed treasury address it was sent from, the address paid to and the amount, is public on the Solana blockchain, and Backed cannot remove it. The picks you suggested are deleted with your account, but a pick Backed accepted stays on the card as one of its options.
- If you submit a community pick, we keep it with that round’s records, including whether Backed shortlisted, selected or removed it. A Back Power snapshot of your linked wallet, and the Back Power you put on picks, are kept the same way, also after you unlink the wallet. They are deleted when your account is deleted, including any pick of yours that Backed selected as a leg of a community bet, which is then no longer shown under Community Bets; the support you gave other members’ picks then leaves their totals.
- If you sign up with a Solana wallet, our authentication provider keeps its address as your way of signing in for as long as your account exists. Unlinking the wallet in Backed Club does not remove it: while Backed offers wallet sign-in, you can still sign in with it (unless another account has linked it since), and doing so links it again unless you have linked another wallet. A wallet you linked to an account you made with an email address signs you in to that account only while it stays linked.
- Our AI service provider deletes the screenshots it reads, and the details it returns, within 30 days, unless it needs to keep them longer as described in Service providers.
- If you ask us to delete your account, we will delete your account and the information associated with it, including your profile, plays, screenshots, the details read from them, results, comments, reactions, follows, notifications, profile picture, any linked wallet and signed wallet messages, community-card votes, and any wallet you sign in with, within a reasonable time. We may keep information we are required to keep by law, or need to resolve disputes or enforce our Terms. Community Play records are kept as described above. Plays other members created by remixing yours remain part of their plays.
- Information in our service providers’ logs and backups is kept according to their own retention practices, and residual copies may remain for a limited time.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your information, including:
- encrypted (HTTPS) connections;
- access rules enforced by our database, so content is shown only to the audiences described in this policy;
- private storage for screenshots, with a permission check every time one is requested; and
- passwords stored only in hashed form by our authentication provider and never stored by Backed.
No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee the security of your information. Use a strong password that you do not use anywhere else, and contact support@usebackedbets.com if you think someone has accessed your account. Signing out of Backed signs you out on all your devices, although it can take a short time for a session on another device to stop working completely.
If you signed up with a Solana wallet, that wallet is the only way to sign in to your account: the account has no email address or password, and Backed has no way yet to add one. If you lose access to the wallet, you will not be able to sign in to the account, and Backed cannot recover a wallet or its keys.
Your choices and requests
- Profile: edit your display name, username, bio and profile picture in Edit profile (on your profile).
- Audience: choose who can see each play when you post it.
- Activity: remove your reactions, unfollow people, and block or unblock members at any time. This does not remove notifications the other member has already received.
- Groups: to leave a group, email support@usebackedbets.com.
- Cookies: manage cookies in your browser settings (you will not be able to stay signed in without the sign-in cookies).
- Access, correction and deletion: email privacy@usebackedbets.com to ask for a copy of your information, to correct it, or to delete it or your account.
- Deleting your account: there is no self-service delete-account button yet. Email privacy@usebackedbets.com or support@usebackedbets.com from the email address on your account and we will delete it. If you signed up with a wallet, your account has no email address: write from any address with your username, and we will need to confirm the account is yours before we act.
- Account help: to remove specific content, change the email address on your account or regain access if you cannot sign in, email support@usebackedbets.com.
These requests are handled by our team. We may need to confirm that a request comes from the account holder, for example by asking you to write from the email address on the account and to confirm details about the account. Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal information, such as the right to access, correct, delete or obtain a copy of it, or to object to or restrict certain uses. We will respond to requests as required by the laws that apply to you.
Children and minors
Backed is not intended for minors. You must be 18 years of age or the age of majority where you live, whichever is higher, to use Backed. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under that age. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact privacy@usebackedbets.com and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Backed changes. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page, and if a change is significant we will take reasonable steps to let you know, such as a notice on Backed.
