Terms of Service

By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

You must be 18 years of age or the age of majority where you live, whichever is higher, to create an account or use the Service. Backed is not intended for minors.

This is an eligibility requirement for using Backed, not a wagering-age requirement, because Backed does not accept wagers from members. If you choose to wager with a sportsbook or other third-party service, you must follow the laws that apply where you live and that service’s own rules, including its age requirements, which may be higher.

You may not use the Service where it is prohibited by law, or if we have previously suspended or removed your account.

• To register, you provide an email address, a password and a username, or, where Backed offers it, you sign in with a Solana wallet and then choose a username. Provide accurate information and keep your account for your own use. Do not share it, sell it or let others use it.
• You are responsible for keeping your password, or the wallet you sign in with, secure and for all activity on your account. Use a strong password that you do not use on other sites.
• Signing in with a wallet sends no transaction and costs nothing. A wallet can be linked to only one Backed account. In Backed’s sign-in, a wallet that’s already linked to an account signs in only to that account, and a wallet linked to one account can’t be linked to another.
• An account you created with a wallet has no email address or password, and Backed has no way yet to add one. Only that wallet can sign in to it: if you lose access to the wallet, you will not be able to sign in, and Backed cannot recover a wallet or its keys.
• If you think someone else has accessed your account, or you cannot sign in, email support@usebackedbets.com from the email address on your account and we will help you regain access. If you created your account with a wallet, it has no email address: write from any address with your username, and we will need to confirm the account is yours before we act; Backed cannot recover a lost wallet. Changing the email address on your account is also handled by our team rather than in the app.

Usernames are public and appear on your profile, plays and comments. Choose one that does not impersonate anyone, mislead others about who you are, infringe someone else’s rights or contain offensive content. We may require you to change a username, or reclaim it, if it breaks these Terms. If you change your username, your old one may become available to someone else.

• Backed does not accept, place, settle or hold members’ wagers.
• If Backed runs a Community Play in Backed Club (see “Backed Club and features in development”), Backed’s Community Fund stakes it with Backed’s own money, never members’ money.
• Backed does not hold, transfer or take custody of members’ money, tokens or other funds, for wagering or otherwise, and it cannot move or access funds in a wallet a member links.
• Backed is not a sportsbook and does not currently connect to your sportsbook, fantasy, pick’em or prediction-market accounts.
• Any wager you make is made with a third-party service, under that service’s terms. Backed is not a party to it and is not responsible for it.
• Backed’s automatic grading records how a play turned out, on Backed only. It is not a settlement or payout, and it does not affect any wager with the service you used.
• Backed has no relationship with, and is not affiliated with or endorsed by, any sportsbook, betting or fantasy provider, prediction market, league, team or player, unless we expressly say so.
• Back, Fade, Ride and Remix are social features. They are not wagers.

Plays on Backed are entered by members, either by typing in the details or by uploading a screenshot that Backed reads for the member to check and correct before posting. Backed does not verify that a play was actually placed, does not check plays with any sportsbook or other service, and does not verify the odds, stake or payout a member reports.

When a play is posted with its picks, whether read from a screenshot or typed in, Backed tracks and grades NFL picks automatically from third-party sports data (such as final scores and player and team statistics). For now the NFL is the only sport Backed tracks automatically. Picks in other sports (such as NBA, MLB, NHL, UFC and soccer) can still be posted and are shown, labelled “Not auto-tracked yet”, but Backed does not track or grade them automatically, and a play that includes one never counts toward records, win rate or standings. The same applies to an NFL pick on a market Backed can’t grade automatically. A Polymarket position may be graded from Polymarket’s public resolution data once the market has resolved; while Backed has Polymarket grading switched off, Polymarket positions are labelled “Not auto-tracked yet”, and a play that includes one posted then never counts. Backed does not currently grade Kalshi positions automatically. Kalshi positions are labelled “Not auto-tracked yet”, and a play that includes one does not count either. When Backed cannot grade a pick it tracks reliably, for example because the data is missing, a market’s result is disputed or unclear, or a name could not be matched with confidence, the pick shows “Needs review” instead of a guessed result. Older plays posted as a screenshot without their picks, and plays posted before automatic grading began, are not graded automatically and do not count toward records (they are marked “Not auto-tracked”).

Records (wins, losses, pushes, pending plays and win rate) and standings are calculated automatically from these results, so they change as plays are graded. Standings rank members by graded results, never by money: by default by win rate (wins out of decided picks), with members who have at least 10 decided picks ranked first. Stake, payout and profit and loss are reported by members, are shown as reported, and cannot be changed after a play is posted. Whether a play counts toward records is decided once, when it is posted, and never changes afterwards. A play posted more than 5 minutes after one of its games or events started is still shown and graded, and is labelled “Posted after start”, but it does not count toward any record, win rate, profit and loss or standing. For now, flex entries, and plays whose game start Backed could not confirm when they were posted (including prediction-market positions without a reliable start time), do not count either. Backed cannot yet check lines against a sportsbook, so a play with a pick whose line is outside the usual range for its market (for example, over 0.5 receiving yards) is shown and graded but does not count either. Backed has no odds feed either: a play with a moneyline at odds of −300 or shorter, or with a prediction-market position bought at 75¢ or more, is labelled “Very heavy favorite”, and a play with a moneyline or position whose odds Backed couldn’t confirm from the uploaded slip is labelled “Odds not confirmed”. Both are shown and graded but do not count either. For a play with more than one pick, the overall odds read from the slip decide when the slip shows them. Backed only uses odds it reads from the uploaded slip, for picks left exactly as read; odds, stake or payout a member enters can only keep a play out of the records, never make it count. A grade is Backed’s own record of how a pick turned out according to the data available to us. It does not mean that Backed verified the wager was placed or paid.

Members cannot mark plays won or lost or change a result. If you think a result is wrong, email support@usebackedbets.com with a link to the play. Backed staff may correct a wrong automatic grade or settle a pick that needs review; each correction is recorded internally, with the old and new result, the reason, when it was made and who made it, and the play’s result and the records that include it are recalculated. A correction never changes whether a play counts toward records.

We make no guarantee that any member’s play, bet slip, screenshot, odds, stake, payout, outcome, record or other statement is accurate, complete or genuine, or that Backed’s reading of a screenshot or its grading of a play is correct. Results depend on third-party data, which can be delayed, incomplete or wrong, and on the details members confirm, so results, records, profit and loss, standings and similar figures may be incomplete or wrong.

Plays, picks, comments, reactions, results, records, standings, sports schedules and scores on Backed are for information and social discussion only. They are not betting, financial, investment, tax or legal advice, and they are not a guarantee or prediction of any result. Past results do not predict future results. You are solely responsible for your own decisions, including whether to wager and how much. See Responsible Play.

You keep ownership of the content you post on Backed, such as plays, screenshots, captions, comments and your profile. You are responsible for it, and you confirm that you have the rights needed to post it.

By posting content, you give Backed a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, copy, process (for example, to read the details of a slip from a screenshot you upload, with the help of our service providers), adapt (for example, to resize or re-encode images or format content for display), display and distribute it, only as needed to operate, provide and maintain the Service. This includes showing it to the audience you choose. This license ends when your content is deleted from the Service, except for copies that other members made in their own plays using remix, copies kept for a limited time in backups, and content we must keep for legal reasons.

You also allow other members who can see your play to remix it, which copies its picks, odds and source into a play of their own. Remix does not copy your screenshot, stake, payout or caption.

At the moment, plays and comments cannot be edited or deleted in the app after posting. To ask us to remove content, email support@usebackedbets.com.

• Only upload screenshots of your own plays, and only images you have the right to share.
• Do not alter a screenshot to misrepresent a play, its odds, stake, payout or result.
• Screenshots can show account numbers, balances, names or other personal details. Crop them out before you upload; anyone who can see your play can see its screenshot, and the image is sent to our AI service provider to be read.
• When you upload a screenshot, Backed uses an AI service provider to read the details of your play from it. Automated reading can make mistakes, so check every detail, and correct anything that is wrong, before you post. You are responsible for the details you post.
• A screenshot is posted with the details you confirm: Backed shows its own version of your slip, and anyone who can see the play can open the original screenshot (“View original slip”). A screenshot can’t be posted on its own; older plays that were posted as a screenshot alone still show the screenshot itself.
• If your screenshot shows a clear photo of a player beside one of your picks, Backed may show that photo, cut from your screenshot, beside the pick on your play. It is part of your post: it is shown only with that play, to whoever can see the play, and is never reused for anyone else’s plays.
• Reading a screenshot does not verify it. Backed does not check that a screenshot is genuine or that the play it shows was placed.

When using Backed, you must not:

• break any law, or use Backed to facilitate illegal gambling or any other illegal activity;
• offer, accept or arrange wagers, run betting pools, collect or hold money for others’ betting, or offer to place bets for other people;
• post plays, records, screenshots or results that you know are false, fabricated or altered, or otherwise mislead or defraud others;
• use Backed to sell picks, promote paid services or solicit money without our written permission;
• harass, threaten, bully or abuse others, or post hateful, discriminatory, sexually explicit or violent content;
• impersonate any person or organization, or misrepresent your connection with them;
• post another person’s private or personal information without their permission;
• post content that infringes someone else’s copyright, trademark or other rights;
• post spam, scams, malware or misleading links;
• access or collect data from the Service by automated means, such as bots or scrapers, or create accounts in bulk, without our permission;
• try to get around access controls, interfere with or overload the Service, or access accounts or data that are not yours; or
• help or encourage anyone else to do any of these things.

We may review, restrict or remove content, or limit access to features, where we reasonably believe content or conduct breaks these Terms or creates risk for Backed, our members or others. We are not obliged to monitor content and are not responsible for content posted by members.

There is no in-app reporting tool yet. To report content or a member, email support@usebackedbets.com with a link to the content and a short description of the problem.

We may suspend or close your account, or restrict your access to the Service, where reasonably necessary: if you break these Terms, if we are required to by law, or to protect Backed, our members or others.

You may stop using Backed at any time. There is no self-service delete-account button yet; to delete your account, email support@usebackedbets.com or privacy@usebackedbets.com from the email address on your account (if your account has no email address, write from any address with your username, and we will need to confirm the account is yours). Sections of these Terms that by their nature should continue after your account ends will continue, including those on your content, intellectual property, disclaimers and limitation of liability.

Some parts of Backed, including Backed Club and the Community Engine, show features that are still being designed. Apart from your own linked wallet’s balance, any community card open for voting, any Community Play Backed runs and Community Picks, including the community bets Backed selects from them (all below), holdings, tiers, scores, votes, other community bets and activity shown in Backed Club are sample data. Backed Club and the Community Engine show the BACKED that Backed has bought back and burned and the Community Fund balance as Backed reports them, updated by hand and dated; these are not sample figures. The Community Engine isn’t connected to a live ledger, and totals Backed doesn’t report are marked as not reported.

Where Backed Club offers it, you can choose to link one Solana wallet to your account by signing a message with that wallet. Signing sends no transaction and gives Backed no access to the wallet or its funds, and Backed never asks for your seed phrase, private key or wallet password. Once linked, the Club shows “Wallet verified”: this means you proved you control the wallet, not who you are. A wallet can be linked to only one Backed account. If you sign in with a Solana wallet, that wallet becomes the one linked to your account in the same way (unless you have already linked another), with the same meaning. If Backed has set up the BACKED token, the Club shows you that wallet’s public BACKED balance, read from the Solana network; otherwise it says holdings can’t be checked yet. Where wallet linking isn’t offered, it is marked coming soon.

If Backed has set up the BACKED token, Backed may open community cards in Backed Club for members to vote on. When you vote, Backed reads your linked wallet’s BACKED balance from the Solana network, and the weight of your vote is that balance’s share of the token’s total supply. A wallet that holds less than the minimum share shown with the card cannot vote. Reading a balance never moves tokens: Backed takes no custody of your tokens and never asks you to deposit, transfer, stake or approve them. Your vote is recorded with the balance and supply read, the weight they gave and the holder tier they fall in (a label only). A balance read less than a minute before may be reused, and the supply is the latest Backed has read, up to 10 minutes old; if you change your vote, the balance is read the same way again. Each wallet can vote once on each leg of a card. Voting costs nothing and involves no wager by you. If the card is part of a Community Play, your votes count toward your participation in it (below).

If Backed has set up the BACKED token, Backed may also run Community Plays in Backed Club. A Community Play is built from a community card: members with a linked Solana wallet holding BACKED take part by voting on every leg of the card, and may also suggest picks for it. Your participation score is 60 if you vote on every leg, 85 if you also suggest at least one valid pick, and 100 if one of your picks is selected for the final play. Comments, likes, Back, Fade, referrals and other posts don’t count toward participation. When the play locks, Backed records each participant’s participation score and a snapshot of their linked wallet’s BACKED balance and its share of the token’s total supply, read from the Solana network at that time; moving tokens afterwards doesn’t change that play. Only one account can take part with a given wallet, all your votes on the card must be cast with the wallet linked to your account when the play locks, and that wallet must hold at least the minimum share when it locks.

Backed’s Community Fund stakes the Community Play with Backed’s own money, never members’ money. If the play makes a net profit (its final return minus the stake), 20% of the net profit goes to the Community Fund and 80% forms a participant reward pool. The pool is shared among eligible participants, to the cent, by one final reward weight for each participant: 80% from holdings (their share of supply raised to the power 1.2, as a proportion of the total for all eligible participants) and 20% from participation (their participation score, as a proportion of all eligible participants’ scores). Each eligible participant gets one reward amount. If no participant is eligible, the pool goes to the Community Fund. If the play makes no profit (a loss, a push, or a return at or below the stake), there is no reward pool and no rewards. A member who doesn’t take part receives nothing. Linking a wallet or holding BACKED does not by itself entitle you to any reward, distribution, payment or other financial benefit.

Backed calculates and records each participant’s reward. Rewards are not transferred automatically: after a play settles, an authorized Backed admin reviews and authorizes the payout, and Backed’s treasury wallet signs it. Backed then sends each reward on the Solana network, in the payout asset recorded for that payout (for example a USD stablecoin), to the wallet recorded for that participant when the play locked. Changing your linked wallet afterwards does not redirect a reward, unless Backed records a correction before it is paid. Backed pays the network fees; they are not taken out of rewards. Backed Club shows a reward as paid only after the transfer is confirmed on the Solana network. Backed keeps a record of each payment, and the transfer and its transaction signature are public on the Solana blockchain. You never deposit, stake, transfer or approve tokens or money to take part. Lock-time snapshots and reward records are never edited; if Backed corrects a play’s result, the correction is recorded with the previous and new values, who made it, why and when. A confirmed payment is never edited or reversed automatically; any correction to it is recorded.

Backed may also run Community Picks in Backed Club. In each round, members may submit one pick, which is shown publicly with their username, and Backed may shortlist, select or remove picks, or end a round without selecting any; selection isn’t guaranteed. Picks Backed selects are shown under Community Bets as that round’s community bet. If Backed has set up the BACKED token, members can also back other members’ picks with Back Power while voting is open. When Backed opens voting, it reads each linked wallet’s BACKED balance and the token’s total supply from the Solana network, and your Back Power is the share of the supply your linked wallet holds then (the lower of two readings taken moments apart), in basis points: 0.01% of the supply is 1 Back Power, rounded down. Moving tokens or linking a wallet afterwards doesn’t change your Back Power for that round. You can put your Back Power on one or more other members’ picks, never your own, and change it until voting closes. Back Power is a participation and preference measure: it is not money, has no value and can’t be redeemed, and it gives no reward or claim of any kind. Other members see only each pick’s number of backers and total Back Power, never your balance or which picks you backed. Backed places any resulting wager itself, off the Service, if at all; submitting or backing a pick costs nothing and involves no wager by you.

Backed charges members no fees. Backed receives creator fees from trading of the BACKED token on pump.fun and currently allocates them by hand: 20% to Team & Operations, 40% to Buyback & Burn (buying BACKED on the open market and burning it) and 40% to a Community Fund. Backed has made such buybacks and burns, and reports the BACKED it has burned and the Community Fund balance on the Service, updated by hand. Fee allocation and buybacks and burns are not automated, and Backed may change, pause or stop them at any time; past buybacks and burns are no promise of future buybacks or burns, or of any token value, price support, reward or return.

Apart from Community Plays (above), no tokens are sold or distributed through the Service, and no rewards, profits or distributions are paid to members. Holder tiers are only shown, as labels, with community-card votes. Apart from community-card votes, Community Play records and Community Picks, actions in Backed Club are not recorded. Descriptions of how other planned features would work, such as automated fee allocation or automated buybacks and burns, describe proposals, not current activity; they may change significantly or never launch. Apart from your own linked wallet’s balance, the tier and vote weight shown with an open community card, the figures recorded for a Community Play and your Back Power, references in Backed Club to BACKED holdings, supply, tiers or holders describe planned features and use sample figures.

Nothing on Backed is an offer to sell, or a solicitation of an offer to buy, any token, security or other investment. Nothing on Backed is a promise of any profit or return, or of any reward other than a Community Play reward calculated as described above.

Backed is currently free to use and does not charge fees. If we introduce paid features or fees, we will tell you before they apply to you.

The Service, including its software, design, text and graphics and the Backed name and logo, is owned by Backed and protected by intellectual property laws. This does not include members’ content or third-party content, such as the player photos listed on our Image Credits page, which are used under their own licences. We give you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable permission to use the Service in line with these Terms. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell or create derivative works from the Service, or use the Backed name or logo, without our written permission.

If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them without any obligation to you.

• Names of sportsbooks, fantasy and pick’em apps, prediction markets, leagues, teams and players appear on Backed to describe plays, the services members say they used and sports events, and in clearly labelled sample previews. Some of those services’ logos appear next to their names, only to show where an uploaded play came from, and team logos appear next to team names, only to identify the teams. The names and logos belong to their owners (team logos to the teams and their leagues), and their appearance does not mean any affiliation, sponsorship or endorsement.
• Sports schedules, scores and statistics, including those used to grade NFL picks, come from a third-party data provider (BALLDONTLIE). They may be delayed, unavailable, incomplete or inaccurate and are not official league data.
• Polymarket positions are matched to markets, and may be graded, using public market data published by Polymarket. That data may be delayed, unavailable or changed by Polymarket. Backed does not currently request data from Kalshi. Backed is not affiliated with Polymarket or Kalshi.
• Backed relies on Vercel for hosting, on Supabase for authentication, database and file storage, and on an AI service provider (Anthropic) to read slip screenshots.
• If you link a Solana wallet, Backed reads its public balance from the Solana network through a third-party RPC provider; that data may be delayed or unavailable. Wallet apps you use to sign are third-party services under their own terms.
• Player photos from Wikimedia Commons, where Backed shows them, are used under their free licences (CC0, public domain, CC BY or CC BY-SA). Each is credited to its author, with its licence, on our Image Credits page. Those licences cover the photographer’s copyright only: Backed claims no other rights in the photos, and showing a photo does not mean the player, their team or league, or the photographer endorses Backed. League logos are not shown: Backed uses its own sport icons.
• Backed may link to third-party websites, such as the help resources on our Responsible Play page. We do not control third-party services, websites or content and are not responsible for them, and your use of them is governed by their own terms.

We are continuing to build Backed. We may add, change, suspend or remove features, or stop offering the Service, at any time. The Service may sometimes be unavailable, slow or contain errors, and we do not promise that it will always be available or that any content will be stored or kept.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service and all content on it are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, title and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure or error-free, or that any content, including member plays, bet slips, screenshot readings, grades, results, records, odds, payouts, outcomes, sports data, market data, wallet balances and scores, is accurate, complete or reliable.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Backed will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of, or inability to use, the Service. This includes any loss from a wager or other decision you make based on content on Backed, and any content or conduct of other members or third parties.

Some places do not allow certain warranties to be excluded or certain liabilities to be limited, so some of these limits may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. If a change is significant, we will give you reasonable notice before it takes effect, such as a notice on Backed. If you do not agree to updated Terms, you can stop using the Service and ask us to delete your account.
